Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) Project

The project that established CS-SUNN as Nigeria’s national civil society platform for nutrition. Built in 2015, its structures still work today.

Why it matters

Civil society worked in isolation

Nutrition organisations had no national platform, no coordination and no shared agenda. The national plan of action existed on paper, with no civil society structure behind it.

How we worked

Organise first, then advocate

  1. Mapping identified nutrition CSOs across the country.
  2. Local Working Groups gave each state a coordination structure.
  3. Training built advocacy capacity in coalition members.
  4. Media and town halls raised public awareness of malnutrition.
What we learned
Unified coalitions are more influential. One platform carried more weight than many small voices.
State structures sustain ownership.State-level coordination improved ownership and sustainability.
Document everything.Records built the institutional memory later programmes relied on.
